The photos that didn't "turn out"

 (Fritz photo)
Okay, there is hair in sweet Emily's face.  Even still I love how the light sparkles in her true blue eyes and her minx expression.

Nothing is in focus, but somehow Jane's lovely bottom lip and the depth of her eyes makes you want to know what is going on.   It looks so much more mysterious than the actuality.  She was fishing at our neighborhood pond.

I didn't know someone was taking a tabletop photo of me.  Despite whatever blur is on the bottom of the photo, I like the the trees bending in the background and my faced turned in the opposite direction with an expectant look.

Eyes shut in a picture are usually a no, no.  However, Jane's expression touches my sense of humor.  You want to know what she is internally laughing about.  You want to be goofy with her.

Technically, this photo is living proof that unposed pictures often capture more of real life.   Most people would discount this photo, but since I know the silly subjects it warms my heart.

When our greatest joy is cross-shaped

 (Fritz photography)

It is beautifully strange that a piece of magnified fencing that Fritz photographed speaks so powerfully to my heart.  Do you see what I see?

I see a cross.  My Savior is stretched out there for me.  I see myself wound tight against my loving Jesus.  The uncontainable God couldn't contain his crazy plan.  He came down from all that was lovely and perfect, and he willingly took on my human fragility.  Dressing in skin, Jesus demonstrated that the path to the greatest joy is always and forever cross-shaped.

Jesus has given me a better life than I could ever have dreamed of.   Thank you, Jesus.

One enchanted evening

The Speaking Flowers

As Fritz and I took afternoon photographs, I heard the flowers speaking Scripture to my heart.

All our needs are known and met by a loving Heavenly Father who clothes the flowers in more glorious garments than King Solomon's.

What an amazing promise to seek first his kingdom and not worry about the morrow.

Frayed edges of evening

A hummingbird moth dipped in and out of the flowers as the sun took its last bow.

Our cat considered joining the circus, but jumping through hoops seemed like too much effort.

Sunlit handsome Teddy admired the moth.

The girl with perfect balance took some whirls around the circle.

The boy with a fabulous grin posed for some bokeh.

The girl with the ice cream cone earrings concentrated on the baseball.

The moth's wings beat so fast that they were only a blur to the human eye.  By camera shutter speed, the motion was frozen and you can see the frayed edges.  This pink-spotted hawk moth was as worn out as the day.

Right before hopping on the long board, the doc commented, "You could injure yourself with this."

Even naughty dogs take on an angelic glow at sunset.               (photo by Fritz)

Life is meant to be lived dangerously.
