A tribute to Alex

With your Vegeta quote fresh in my head, I realize you have but one more day of high school to push through.  Crazy.   Where did time go?  Thank you for my prickly reminders of you.

I needed the visual memory that even cacti bloom.

I love you, Alex.

What advances also retreats

We watched the advance and then I thought to grab my camera.
Nearer and closer.

Eyeballs on the impending introduction.

These ladies were curiously calm about the intruder.

Emily, Jane and I wished the snake could read and we had posted a Trespassers Beware sign.  We now have some trepidation about gathering eggs.

Instead we watched the uninvited one slither about our hens' feet and then exit on the right.
Fritz took my camera from me and captured this sickening image of the snake climbing up a tree three feet from the coop.

My name is woman and I hate snakes.   The curse of sin must have changed our preferences, because no woman in her right mind would hold conversation with a snake.  Eve, shame on you.

The moral of the tale is that what advances also retreats.

The Man in Leather

Though your skin may leather with time, may you always keep your same tender heart that hungers and thirsts for the Living God.   Your maturity and depth of spiritual insight amaze me.

I am so thankful for you.

Oh, how he loves us

Just meditated on Isaiah 53 and am in awe that the man of sorrows, despised and rejected by men, was willing to carry even more pain by taking up my infirmities and my broken.  None is like our Jesus.   His love chose to suffer unequal hurt for our sake.

He surrenders his strength for our weakness.  Who trades down?

He stretches his arms out to be pierced with pain.   Who does that?

What love invites wounds to bring healing to someone else? What love gets foot weary on behalf of the distant?

My Jesus poured himself out to death for me.   Pursued by this perfect love I am happily apprehended.  My fast-beating heart is learning ultimate satisfaction.
